Reduce, reuse, recycle isn't just for packaging!

Do you repurpose old content, or are you trying to come up with brand new ideas every time?
This blog post is all about something that I don't think people talk enough about when it comes to social media - repurposing old posts!
When I first started learning more about using social media to grow my business, I was genuinely shocked to discover that it was OK to reuse old content! Until that point, I had believed that every single post needed to be new and different 😬
Once I realised this, it made it soooo much easier to be more consistent and show up more regularly, because I wasn't always trying to think of something brand new to share.
These are the 3 ways I recommend recycling old content (and by "recommend", I mean this is what I do myself all the time!):
1. Repurposing old posts in new ways. If I've posted a reel that has done well, I might take the caption and turn it into a carousel, for example. Or vice-versa. Sometimes I add a different hook, to grab people's attention, pop some new trending audio over the top and ta-dah! A brand new post!
2. Remixing other people's reels, especially funny ones that contain clips of TV shows, films, etc. These are always my best-performing posts on Instagram, and they sometimes even go viral on Facebook as well! I've recently shared the exact same Gavin and Stacey clip, remixed from a reel shared by @ict_mrp, and I didn't even change the text! Last year it got 289k views and this year it's already on 17k views (my usual reels views are between 3-7k so this is much higher than normal!).
3. Posting the exact same post, with the exact same slides and the exact same caption, 6 months to one year later. The brutal truth is that no one remembers your posts, so why not just repost them again?! And if someone does remember and think, oh I've seen that before, they will either think it's helpful to have a reminder of whatever info you've shared, or they'll think "she's a bit rubbish" and unfollow, and they weren't your ideal client in the first place! So, it's a win-win 😂
