Making extra cash as an MFL teacher [1-min read]
Jul 02, 2025
How can you get a few extra £££ in your pocket as an MFL teacher?
In Season 5 of The Kate Language Podcast, I shared my top 5 tips for making a bit of extra cash as an MFL teacher, and I thought now would be a great time to re-share them:
1. Create and sell teaching resources - Upload and sell teaching resources on TES and/or Teachers Pay Teachers. Check with your school first, make sure you stick to copyright laws and always provide answers! For help with creating your first resource, keep an eye out for the next round of my 5-day challenge "Sell your first online resource in a week"!
2. Private tuition - Qualified teachers can make a minimum of £30-40 an hour doing private tuition. And MFL teachers aren’t restricted to GCSE and A Level prep - I’ve taught people aged 5 to 85! With online teaching, the world really is your oyster, too.
3. Delivering CPD workshops and training - For more experienced teachers, it’s possible to make a few hundred pounds per session for online CPD and/or training.
4. Utilising other skills and interests - Are you a tech whizz? Are you great with social media? How about sewing/making things/art/graphic design? There is so much demand out there in the online business world for VAs, podcast editors/producers, people to create beautiful designs to sell on Etsy, etc. The possibilities are endless!
5. Summer schools - Travel the world and teach English as a foreign language or your own MFL. Or, stay in the UK and make some cash from the comfort of your own home (town)!
