How to save time as a teacher [1-min read]

Jul 29, 2025

Teaching is a time-consuming job. We all know that, but there are ways to save time without cutting corners or compromising on quality.

One of the most important tools you need to have in your teacher toolkit is having some clear boundaries about what you really want to prioritise in your work. These time-saving-tips will hopefully help you to create and maintain a healthy work life balance.

  • Say "no" more often: It's okay to decline extra tasks if you're already feeling overwhelmed. Focus on the most important things and don't overcommit yourself.

  • Don't start from scratch: There are tons of amazing resources out there (can I suggest some of my own!? 😉)  Use them to your advantage and save time on lesson planning.

  • Keep it simple: Avoid doing the same thing twice. Find ways to streamline your data entry and marking processes.

  • Get more out of less: Take one lesson idea and use it in different ways to cover all the skills.

  • Don't stress over perfection: Your lessons don't have to be perfect to be effective. Focus on making them enjoyable and informative.
