How to incorporate culture into your everyday teaching [1 min read]

Here are three really easy ways of incorporating culture into your everyday teaching...

1. Teach vocab that is relevant to the target language (TL) countries - not just Spain, France and Germany!

You could teach South American animals in Spanish, typical food and drink from the TL countries, sports that are popular in TL countries, etc.

2. Ask students what they’re interested in and take it from there.

They might surprise you! If they’re into Japanese anime, for example, look at popular illustrators from TL countries or comics/graphic novels in the TL.

3. Teach them about something you love!

If you’re passionate about an element of TL culture, teach them about it. It might spark an interest for them and increase their motivation to learn the language!

I talked about this in more detail in a Q&A episode of the Kate Languages Podcast. Click here to listen to the episode.
